Interest Meetings
Do you think you want to join the club? While the long term plans for the club will be developed in collaboration with club participants, we created a plan for 2025 to help jump start the club. We will be hosting interest meetings at York High School in the Alumni Room on March 27th and March 31st at 2:15 p.m.
Requirements
Club members will be expected to complete the following requirements to receive the full benefits of a wetsuit, booties, gloves, surfboard and club sweatshirt.
- Swim Test - All club members must be able to swim 100 yards, tread water for 60 seconds, and pull oneself onto a surfboard in overhead water. The swim tests will take place in April with dates to be determined.
- Land Training - The club will have several weekly meetings in late April and early May to go over basic surfing information to help prepare us for getting in the water by mid-May.
- Lessons/Surfing - The club will provide surfing lessons for all members. The number of lessons required will be determined by a club members previous experience and how quickly you pick up the sport. Our hope is that these weekly meet ups will be a fun way for instructors and more experience surfers working together to help members who are new to the sport learn the basics through intermediate skills.
